We are having a good summer though and have seen lots of our neighbours which is always a nice thing. Paddy and Elaine are going strong next door, in their middle 80's, and have had lots of visitors just recently. Between them they have lots of children, nieces, nephews etc and they all come to stay. Lindsay and Glynnis have their grandchildren staying at the moment so are out a lot on the lake in their boat and generally messing about in the garden. They are the same age as ours so it is lovely to hear them but makes me sad at the same time.
Friday evening the whole neighbourhood was out watching the parade of old cars that goes down Antrim Street every year on the way to the lake front where they had a big rally on Saturday. It was packed with cars that morning and attracts many visitors to the area.

So on to our destination today which was St. Bathans, approximately 60 kms north east of Alexandra and around one and a half hours drive from us. It used to be called Dunstan Creek but don't know why they changed it. It is on a road to nowhere and used to be a thriving gold mining town as were a lot of the small towns round here. There was a good railway system here too at one time but now it has been pulled up and is used as a cycle trail which goes all the way from Clyde down to Dunedin. There isn't the demand for a rail system here any more.
This is one of the signs that greets you when you get to the first gate, there are lots of them on the track and a few fords too.
Hope you have all had a good weekend.
We miss you all lots, take care and TTFN xxx
