Autumn is here, the leaves have turned and there are chestnuts all over the car park at the flat. The resident squirrels are madly dashing round picking them up and finding places to store them for the long winter to come. Phoebe Derek and I collected lots the other day when we had Phoebe after school and went in to Shelly Park.
So I snipped them and baked some in the oven yesterday afternoon. Two of them exploded causing chaos in that small and horrible to clean space so while I was cleaning that the chestnuts cooled down so much that I couldn't peel them! So that was a foraging waste of time! Think I'll just go and steal some more from the squirrels and give them to Julie who wants some too!
We are still in the flat as you can tell from the above hints (I haven't managed to kill of Kathys orchids just yet!) and things are progressing nicely (not for me though as I am so impatient to move). We have been given a provisional date of the 27th November to move so have marked it in our diaries and went in to Carpet Right to order new carpet for the bungalow which we are having throughout the house. We now have to set a date with the estate agent in two weeks to let them in to measure up properly as they don't trust estate agents measurements of rooms! It's just going to be an all over beige colour as it's easy with a 20 year stain resistance thingy on it, required!
I finished off Becky's Halloween table runner for her which we were so pleased with, she did such a great job.
I also finished off Phoebe's lap top for her, her first ever quilt - I didn't think she would have the patience to do it. Now have to just teach them both how to 'finish' and they will be off and running on their own. Well done girls xx
Phoebe is in to drawing anything that sits still long enough at the mo and also discovered Duolingo so she is learning French the modern way. Wish I'd had that when I was at school. I hated French mostly because of my teacher who I thought was a dragon who picked on and humiliated me at every chance. Still passed my exams though much to her great surprise!
We've had some lovely walks on the beach just recently as the weather has been so good. We babysat Dax for Becky for four days while she took Phoebe and Brooke down to Weymouth and had great fun taking him out several times a day, think we wore him out though as Becky said he has hardly got out of bed for the last 24 hours! He finally loves the sea though and spent lots of time running in after the braver dogs and running round and round in circles on the sand. Daft dog!
Think we had just as much fun as he did and Derek even took him out at 7.30 in the morning to walk on the beach at sunrise - he won't let me have one though!!!
Julie and I also took him in to the forest at Holt on Tuesday to walk for a couple of miles among the trees just before the heavens opened. I had to put him straight in the bath when we got home though as he was covered in mud from jumping in muddy puddles; he was good as gold though and just stood there while I washed him down, even shook himself off in the bath too so water didn't go everywhere, you have him well trained Bex. Going to spend some time with Jukie and Evie today so looking forward to that.
It was our 11th wedding anniversary on Wednesday and I had a busy day. I went to hospital with Kathy for her appointment, took Dax back and met up with Phoebe and Becky before coming home. Derek and I went out to the Koh Thai in Boscombe which was really good, great atmosphere too and it was packed. Would go there again.
Thank you for the lovely flowers Julie and going the extra mile to get them to me on my busy day xx
This time last year we were on our way to Oahu from Kuaui after a wonderful ten days there. What a great time we had and looking forward to another four days on this busy island.
We hadn't been to Kuaui since we got married and promised ourselves we would go back for our tenth so did while we had the chance. It didn't disappoint! What a gorgeous place it is and we loved our time on Oahu too which is totally different but in a good way.
This week is half term and I have had my interview back at Langside so am just waiting for all my clearance docs to come through - I have signed up for 'bank' work so don't know how many hours I will actually get to do but anything will be better than nothing. Derek is away on and off for the next few weeks doing 'Apple' watch work so at least we can get some £'s in the bank, not that they are going to stay long. Buying a house is one thing - all the little fees from everyone else just keep adding to the pile which just add up to this enormous figure. No wonder Derek's hair is completely grey now, I have the luxury of dying mine!
Everyone is ticking along and all our children are ok. Mum and Cyril are off to Waterside for their annual 'do', stay well Mum xx
Let's see and keep our fingers crossed for all our family and friends now xx
Bye for now and
HAPPY HALLOWEEN
for those who indulge (that's mainly you Becky!!)
TTFN and thank you for looking
