.................. Between one week and the next in the winter. We do get some great sunny days but this morning it is foggy again. When we drive in to work, the huge fog banks hug the contours of the mountains following the river all the way up. It's quite magical to see and gives everywhere an ethereal look.
Ok am sat on the bed at the mo waiting for my hair to 'go off'. It badly needed colouring and doing it now will give it time to calm down before I go home. Not that I am calm! I have waited for so long to go home, see and hug everyone that my stomach is starting to churn just like it did when we used to go up to Yorkshire when we were little. I get so excited that I almost feel ill!! And yet I have to leave Derek behind on his own for a long time, no fun in these winter months when it is cold. But on the "up' side I have pretty much filled the freezer with everything he likes. I have even made him lots of individual apple crumbles, seven so far. Talking of puddings I made little chocolate cups last night after watching Rachael Ray cooking on tv (well Derek was very late home so I had to do something as I had already made dinner!).
They are so simple and very yum so here goes.
In a blender crack in
1 large egg; add
3 tbsps sugar
1 cup of chocolate bits (choc drops, mashed up choc bar)
Add a shot of liqueur if you want to (Cointreau, baileys etc - I had Tia Maria in the cupboard)
Then in the microwave heat up
2/3 cup of milk until hot
Add to the blender then whizz until the chocolate melts
Told you it was simple!
Pour into little ramekins/espresso cups etc (I made 4)
Put in to fridge for a few hours
They are delicious and a real chocolate hit!
I have just put the weebly app on my iPad so don't know if this will work or not. My photo is in the wrong place and I can't seem to move it so this version is not as flexible as on the computer. Why I am doing it this way you may ask? 'Cos I am not taking a computer home with me, just my iPad and I still want to write my blog so that Derek can see what I have been up to.
Just thought I would include this photo of Lake Hayes that I took last week. I took it on the way back from dropping Derek at the airport last week. He was only away two nights and I really didn't like it, don't know how he is going to spend all this time on his own but suppose he will be able to watch the rugby without interruption. I do like watching the Alll Blacks though, hope they do well again against the French tomorrow.
Just about coping with my new hair style too, it is not as hard to do as I thought so it must be a very good cut!
Last weekend was mine and Julie's birthday, yeah!! Still it is not too bad growing old gracefully after all! I picked up Derek from Queenstown airport and we went straight to Arrowtown to have lunch.
We had lunch at The Postmasters House and had their venison burgers which were delicious.
