We are going out for lunch at the Northburn Station, a lovely winery not far from here that does great food so we are looking forward to it.
We also shopped and worked in the garden too. I planted out some more seeds; lots of meadow flowers and cosmos, cornflowers that sort of frilly thing to soften the two sides of the house and to put something in there that is cheap enough to do on a budget. In Mitre 10 (B&Q equivalent) we were taught the best way to direct water without having a down pipe (we have a rectangular drainpipe from the shed and they didn't have any!!) which is to hang a big piece of chain from the gutter into a bucket and apparently the rainwater will follow it! Am sure it works but as we don't have much rain here, we can't try it out just yet!
Derek also pruned the apricot tree yesterday which had grown to over ten feet tall and has a bit of fruit on it - the last owners gave it a huge hair cut in the winter so it is a miracle that it is fruiting at all as it is supposed to fruit on last years growth, like apples I suppose. I've been reading up on all this horticulture stuff as we now have plants that I am not used to at all but it is all good fun.
It gets full sun all day in the back garden and dries out very quickly so I will have to water lots, luckily there are lots of taps, we thought there were three then found another yesterday by the front fence so think they are breeding over night but it also now makes sense why the last owners left lots of hose pipes all over the place.
Anyway time to get ready to go out, speak to you soon xxx
