And although the connection wasn't very good it was so great to be able to talk to you this morning Phoebe along with Mum and Cyril. What a lovely surprise that was - can't say I approve of her staying up to watch 'Emmerdale' but it is not every day and apparently she likes it!
Recipe as follows:-
2 cups of chopped dates
Put them in a bowl and add
3/4 of a cup of boiling water
and
1 tsp of bicarb of soda
MIX - then add
200g of soft chopped up butter
and mix again. Leave for 20 minutes til butter is melted and dates are plumped up a little.
Beat
4 eggs
then add to mix along with
1 cup cocoa
1 cup plain flour
1/2 tsp of baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
Mix the add
250 grams of chopped dark eating chocolate - as near to 70% solid cocoa as possible
I also added some chopped walnuts
Line a deep square tin and pour in mixture
Put in a 160 degree C oven for 50-60 mins.
Will let you know how it turns out!!
I hate it when things attack plants I have grown from seed.
I also lost a blueberry bush this week which snapped in the wind, I still have one left but that's not the point - see what I mean!
I do have my first courgette flower out today which is great and the roses in pots by our bedroom are flowering, thought they wouldn't pick up as they were in quite a state when we moved in but they are lovely, start off yellow then pink at the tip then almost flourresant. I haven't edited that photo at all by the way, it really is that bright.
