It was warm and sunny yesterday so Derek decided it was time to finish painting the front of the house. He has been putting it off because he really doesn't like going up ladders and hates roofs even more. Can't say I blame him really as we borrowed Paddy's old wooden ladder and it is a little rickety so didn't exactly fill him with confidence! It did the job anyway, Derek didn't fall off the roof and I made sure I was nearby to hold the ladder for him when he needed me too. He did miss a bit though under the satelite dish so had to go back up and re-do it!
We still have the back of the house to do so it is a job that we will both have to tackle at the same time and get it done in one go. With the house having so many 'faces' it has been easy to compartmentalise it all and do it in bits.
So what else have we been up to ..... I made a big batch of ricotta cheese on Friday which I like to do. Derek bought me a Mad Milly kit to make cheese a few years ago and I have made the ricotta quite a few times. The kit I got also lets you do mascarpone cheese and mozzarella which was a disaster so I must have another go some day.
Oh before I forget, these are those mushrooms that are growing in the garden Phoebe so please go ahead and check them in Mummy's book and you can tell us what they are! I think these have dried up a bit.
Anyway, when I did eventually get up - the book was a good read by the way - we went over to the Northburn Station to give Jan her misbehaving MacBook back, all fixed and working nicely. She is one of the owners of one of our favourite wineries, a great setting too. I didn't go in but took some photos as they were having a wine appreciation or something in there - drinking wine before 10.30 in the morning is a little much even for us!!
Take care of each other TTFN xxxxxx
