I also have to add that I am very glad that Scotland voted with the NO vote yesterday to be independent. It has put the cat amongst the pigeons elsewhere in the world too and good luck to all those others that try but so much would have had to change in our United Kingdom. Well done for trying though Mr Salmon!
I also have to add a very HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY to Phoebe yesterday. Thank you for letting us share opening your presents with you, you had lots of lovely presents and am sure Mummy is going to enjoy the Karaoke machine as much as you are!!!!! Also Many Happy Returns to my Auntie Brenda and friend Jenny Jones for birthdays on the same day - hope you all had a good time. xxx
We came home yesterday afternoon after our little jaunt of 800 km around Southland and Otago. Derek came home Wednesday lunchtime with a very nice Toyota Corolla hire car and after a quick lunch we headed off to Dunedin. It was perfect weather there again but a bit of a stiff breeze in places.
We settled in to the Victoria Hotel in the middle of town then went for a walk before choosing the Indian restaurant for dinner, the food is always good there but way too much of it this time. Thursday Derek was off early to meet Michelle, the government lady, and do his Vodaphone bit, so I toddled off round town shopping. They were having a big sale at Farmers so I had a leisurely look around and got a few bargains, popped in and out of a few more shops then had a hot chocolate at the Cadbury factory cafe which is so nice.
But then for lunch Derek picked me up and we drove out to St Clare to go to the lovely cafe we found last time and to see the sea. They have a thing at the moment about covering things up with material or wool for special occasions, not just here but in lots of places as I have seen on 'Pinterest'. So as it is election time they have covered up the parking bollards with 'vote' and other fluffy things - random!!
Going out of Dunedin we had to pull right over on a very wide road to let a house go by!!!
Invercargill was just as Springlike so after dropping off Michelle, who was very nice and chatted the whole way (poor Derek with two females to contend with), we headed down the road and we stayed in the Quest apartments right in the centre of town.
Friday morning Derek toddled off to work and I went shopping again!!! I know but I needed a pair of boots and got some high leg leather ones not far from where we were staying then went over to the wool shop. I chatted for about an hour there to a lovely lady from Northumberland who has been here 42 years who really knew her stuff then popped in to H&J's for a look around. It is a nice big and modern department store a bit like Debenhams so lots to look at - I got my shopping fix done for the month anyway.
Then I had time to walk up to where Derek was working but not time to go in to Queens Park which was a shame, next time.
The blossom is everywhere at the moment and looked very pretty up and down the very wide streets of Invercargill. They were built this way apparently so the horse and carts could turn round easily back in the day.
So it is going to be a gardening day today I think and the sun is hot and the sky is blue. It is so good to hear you are still having fab weather in England and Canada too, lovely sunshine all round.
Take care everyone TTFN - big hugs for everyone.
Till next time xxxxx
