Ok start this blog with a purpose - I am trying to be disciplined!
We both have jobs! Well that has only slightly changed for Derek as he has been working but is doing more and travelling away once more. I have bank work where I used to work so it is like putting on an old glove, kind of, as the place has changed little but things inside might have. When I go in for training I will know if I still 'fit'.
We are in the wonderful throws of signing on the dotted line for a new house, new area to us and so new beginnings - again. So we are kind of reinventing ourselves again in this autumn of our years.
Autumn weather too! It has been so warm and the last two days we have had to have the heating on as it has been chilly at night.
We went down to see Derek's dad on Tuesday in Devon. He is lovely and at 90 years young still wonderfully well and fit. We went over to the White Horse which is our usual place to go for a meal with him. The journey down and back was lovely going through the beautiful Dorset and Devon countryside in lonely autumnal sunshine.
My mum is doing ok too and we have been to see her lots of times. We have both missed our parents such a lot.
So October has been busy already and we are only half way through I am going to sneak in Daniel and Helen's wedding into this month as it was on the 27th September. What a gorgeous day they had for it and it was so good to spend time with family and friends at this special time.
The bride and groom were glowing. They are such a handsome couple and so in love it is palpable.
The setting was so good too and everyone had a wonderful time especially Phoebe who was chosen to be a bridesmaid. She looked beautiful and took her duties very seriously. The last time she was a bridesmaid was at her Mum and Dad's wedding.
Unfortunately Kathy and Greg couldn't go and were sadly missed, big hugs you two xx
The following weekend was for the ladies of the Tincleton Ten!! We formed this group five years ago and I was able to join in the first retreat where we crafted, talked, laughed, ate and drank from the Friday to Monday morning and the ladies have done this twice a year in various places ever since.
It all runs like clockwork due to the organisational skills of this capable group of lovelies and the venue is booked, food shopped for and tables, lights and cakes turn up out of everyone's cars to make the weekend the success it is.
We all get on so well too.
The last photo was commemorating the Rugby World Cup and my link to the wonderful All Blacks who I now hope are going to win seeing as England are out at the first round!!!!!
I just fitted back in, I think, as if I had to been away and enjoyed every minute. It is just nice to spend time with the girls and always with my sister.
I took this one of her and it is the first one she has liked for years!
That week Julie and I went to dinner with our old friend Deb Zaharychuk who lives now in San Diego. It is so good to catch up with her every year or so, Derek and I last saw her and her husband on a trip we took to NZ and stopped in LA and had dinner with them there. The years melt away when you meet up with old and treasured friends and we both send you our love on your return and some of our courage and strength on this next part of your journey. Keep the faith old friend xx
Then last weekend as it was still so nice we drove out to Wareham to spend a few hours by the river and have lunch in The Quay Inn. The pub was ok and the food all right but I would rush back, just to the pub I mean. The setting was great but some of the staff were grouching about some paying customers within our earshot which I didn't think was right. Even if they were justified they should have taken their ill feeling away from the public area.
That being said Wareham looked a delight in the sunshine. We went for a walk down the side of the river too.
This week is still sunny but chilly so the leaves on the trees will be turning soon and Autumn will be in full swing.
Benj and Derek both had their birthdays at the beginning of the month so happy birthday to you both - they both had nice days. We spent Derek's in celebrating in Wimborne at a little pub near the Minster then a great Tandourri on Leigh Road which I would highly recommend- I had the Ceylon which nearly blew my head of but was delish.
Also happy birthday to my lovely Mum for 30th Sept and Julie and Mike's 36th wedding anniversary the day before that.
So that is October so far - half way through.
Strictly is in its third week and Doc Martin is on TV so this is one happy bunny as well as two great series with 'Ruth' from Spooks in them which are both good. Nicola Walker that's her name, knew I'd remember it in the end. She was in the great series Last Tango in Halifax which I would recommend everyone to watch.
So this time last year we were getting ready to go away to Kauai for our tenth wedding anniversary - don't think we will be going anywhere that exotic this year!
We had been to gorgeous Wanaka in the Spring sunshine at the weekend instead of Wareham and I was making our grandchildren their Christmas stockings.
So at least we are still getting out and about in the areas local to us and this time instead of stockings I am making Christmas table runners, one for Becky and family and one for us.
So TTFN thank you for looking once more, big hugs to everyone and a special big hug for my Kathy xx
