Well, Derek is working today, head down and full of inspiration after a day in Auckland and a day in Queenstown with Ingram and Apple people. So I must not disturb him really as he is 'at work' so no hoovering etc. What a shame! I only have some ironing to do though as I did it all yesterday and really doesn't need doing again yet.
I also made a custard tart last week which was nice. I was thinking of Dad as I was going round the garden and he loved the little individual ones so much. I had been making ice cream on and off all week so as it is just a custard base, made a tart too.
I picked Derek up at the airport on Wednesday after his away night there and took a photo of the Maori statue that is at the entrance. I never look at it much as it is just there but thought I would take a photo to share it with you. It is rather lovely.
It was lovely sat in the sun ..........
Derek had a lecture to give to a group of Americans at 3.30pm so I carried on window shopping and then dashed back to the car completely drenched by the rain which was pouring by then and picked him up at 5.15. We got home just after 6.30 after a stop at the petrol station and both felt really tired after a change to what has become a 'normal' routine.
Derek was away in Queenstown again yesterday talking to Carl, the 'Apple' man, and our accountant Donald so I did lots of gardening and chatted to Paddy over the fence. They are off to a wedding today in Gore at Elaine's old farm so will be away a few days so we are doing our neighbourly thing. Lovely to talk to you too yesterday Mum xxx
I did lots of deadheading and pulling up of lots of cornflowers which have seen better days and the fun part of collecting seed for next year. I've got lots of envelopes full of seed now and still have loads from last year.
We are off for a walk before lunch to blow the cobwebs away and he should have done in enough in four hours by then as it will be too hot later. We haven't been swimming this week :( Derek gets water in one ear which takes him ages to clear and makes him a little dizzy so we played it safe this week.
I have finished piecing together the two quilts I am doing and bought some backing at the Craft Shop in Cromwell yesterday morning so that I can layer them up. The lady is so nice in there, we do chat a lot. I think she is originally from Croatia and has been here in NZ a long time now. She is doing some craft classes in the winter and am trying to persuade her to do a 'felting' one as she has bags for sale in there that a local lady has done and they are gorgeous.
Right, time to go out and pick some lettuce and tomatoes for lunch. I picked a cucumber yesterday that is a very strange shape, not at all like the long and elegant things you get in the shops but it tastes just the same. The strawberries are having their second go to and though there is not a punnet full, there are eight or so to pick so I'll put them in the yoghurt I made yesterday.
TTFN everyone, keep warm and dry, love each other lots xxx
