Anyway, with that in mind, I did put up the tree on Sunday and realised that I had left all my lights back in the UK so had to go out and buy more,(we didn't put up the decs last year as we were in the UK) 200 hundred of them flashing in lots of different ways which now adorn our tree. As it does't get dark here until 10pm either, they are not going to be on for very long as we are usually in bed by 11pm! I will think of you all with your Winter scenes and will be envious for a little while but then we have the weather you are having now in July/August so it is a fair trade (not counting you in California Deb as I am sure it is lovely there x )
There was a Craft Fayre going on in the park there which was nice and we bought a few things, lovely walnut bread and second hand books as they are so expensive in the shops to buy brand new. We quite like rummaging through other people's junk though!
We spent the rest of the day potting up plants that I have grown from seed, planting out stuff we bought at
Mitre 10 which has a great plant section, pruning trees etc and the next thing we knew it was 5 o'clock. The veg patch is coming along nicely though, we have had lots of lettuce and radish, herbs too, pulled up our first spuds and had our first courgette. All ten of my courgette seeds grew so I am going to have an abundance of them so any recipes for using them up would be most welcome! I am taking in a big bag of lettuce and parsley for Coleen tomorrow as well as some Pak Choi which I use a lot of in stir fries.
Above is the view over Dalefield (Arrowtown to the right) going up over the Crown Range to Cardrona then on to Wanaka. Everywhere is covered in gorse and lupins now, full of golden yellow and very green from the recent rains so it looks lovely and the smell of the lupins is intoxicating.
Bye bye for now everyone, take care of each other and big hugs. Will leave you with a few photos of the front of the house and garden taken on Sunday.
