So before it got too hot we went for a bike ride over to Pisa Moorings which takes you from Cromwell down the side of the lake. Not a bad cycle ride, a little up and down, but by gum, when you are not used to it as we aren't, your nether regions get a little sore. Thank goodness for suspension is all I can say! Coleen at work says we have to get padded shorts!!
We passed the 45 Parallel on the way back so took each others photos - that's about the same level as Bordeaux apparently so you can understand why our summers are a little warmer than at home.
In the car we got and retraced our steps and in the meantime, Derek's phone kept ringing. A couple had picked up my phone, undamaged in the middle of the main road!!!!!! and rung the most favourite number (I don't lock my phone!). I met them at the police station and they were lovely, here for the big concert that was on in the Gibbston Valley this weekend, (Pat Benatar and America being the top billing) and just on their way home to Dunedin when they saw it in the road. They wouldn't take a reward, coffee money, nothing, nada, zilch, just said "Pay it forward" so I will.
What nice people.
I must say in the main people here are and at home, you only ever hear of the bad ones not the good ones. So this is a short bit on my blog to say;
Thank Goodness for all the Good People in the World, you make Everyones lives worth Living.
And saying that, every weekend on the national news, they have a feature on 'a good sort'. This is just a person who someone nominates who has done a good deed to do a feature on that makes everyone smile no matter what bad things have gone on and I really like that.
Spoke to Becky, Phoebe and Julie this morning which was lovely. Love to catch up with everyone, just hoping you get some sunshine soon to cheer everyone up xx It will soon be Spring and we will have Autumn.
I've been gardening today, just tidying up the veggie plot and cutting down some of the whips from the roses. I also attacked six of the lavender bushes with my shears which was fun. It is very hard to know when to stop with those things but they are nice and sharp at least and the bushes look good now and should flower beautifully next year, I hope. Even the little ones I put in a few months ago have really bushed out and produced lots of flowers; they really like the dry conditions so maybe I should just fill the garden with them. I have 7 different varieties now and there are lots more!
I have made a spagetti sauce for tomorrow and done a salad for tonight (pancakes, slow cooked peaches and ice cream for pud) so weren't not being that good.
I cooked the beef sirloin roast on Sunday and it was quite salty - it is how they prepare it here - but very nice, very pink looking so this is what we had left from Sunday dinner. So a home grown salad except for the left over roast pumpkin and beef, it's too hot to cook anything else.
