Derek finished painting the outside of the house so that is done now, good job. He has still got one to go and that is the garage wall that Paddy can see from his kitchen but we can't. Like Paddy says he doesn't care so it may take Derek a while to get that done, when the weather cools a little maybe as the paint dries so quickly and goes sticky in this heat.
We had a nice week, lots of walking in the evening etc and the last of our boxes finally arrived from England on Wednesday. It was so good to get them at last, a bit like Christmas, and to get my Dyson. The house always looked clean and tidy until I used that and I have had to empty it six times already with all the stuff that came out of the carpets. I'm ashamed!!! Or I could just blame a bad hoover.
Saturday we didn't do much. We had Alistair from Harcourts come to give us a price on our house for insurance/will purposes - yes we finally got round to getting a will kit Julie so now have to fill it out - and it was very nice to know that our house has gone up by $50,000, a big surprise too. He liked all the improvements we have made which is good to know and he also told us what to do and what not to do which was even more useful. So no new kitchen (painting it was enough!) but get rid of the carpet in the family bathroom which we were going to do anyway.
So in the afternoon we just walked in to town and had a stroll around. I got a few bargains in the op shop (Salvation Army charity shop) and got some new lamp shades which I love and have replaced the awful ones in the corridors and I got some lovely Mediterranian type crockery which is brand new and so nice and bright. Love it. We also popped in to the Liquor Store as we have never been in there and it is always busy and found lots of 'cellar door' wines including this one --------
Yesterday was gorgeous again and as Wanaka was the hottest place in the country the day before, we decided to make a trip up there (only one degree warmer than here lol) and it was very busy in town.
We went back home via Lake Hawea which is usually very quiet. We grabbed a huge ice cream each and went down by the lake and saw at least 20 people down on the beach, never seen that many there before. I know that may sound really weird to you but to us it is. Most people flock to Wanaka because it has shops, cafes etc and there are none here, just a little dairy (corner shop) so it is not so popular with tourists so maybe they were all locals anyway.
We drove back through Hawea Flats on the dirt road which is full of farm land, lots of deer and cows and huge farms in a lovely valley which takes you to the red bridge which looked very dusty today.
We got home around 6 o'clock after a detour to Webbs for some more fruit - twelve apricots, 6 nectarines and ten peaches for a £5 which can't be bad - in time for me to make dinner and then flump.
Spoke to Julie before we went to bed which was good, they were just getting up and at least they managed to get out and have a walk so the rain you are getting in the UK must have stopped for a while.
Also spoke to Kathy and Greg and Deb and the girls this morning (our Monday) so that was lovely. So great to see all your faces and hear your voices xxxxx Hope you had a good time at the Raptor Centre Becky and Phoebe and also hope that Jack and Donna are feeling better.
So we all seem to have had busy weeks in our busy lives.
Take care of each other, enjoy every day, big hugs and stay happy.
TTFN - love you all lots xxx
