I've been doing lots of sewing recently, don't know why but I have had some material for years and rather than throw it out, have decided to do something with it. I made a patchwork for Phoebe and her soon to be new bedroom and will have to take it with me on the plane in it's 'raw' state as I can then baste it and quilt it when I get home.
So today, to go with the quilt (I have also made a little quilt for her dolly cot) I have made her some bunting. Why? Cos I can. I looked at a quick tutorial on U tube and had a go and it looks lovely. Thank you Jules for all the material you gave me years ago to do something with, it has now been put to very good use!
Sew right sides together on the longer edges leaving the 'top' part open, iron the pieces so they sit flat - I made 17.
Then add the bias binding enclosing the 'top' of the triangles and sewing along the bias binding to close leaving about 1.5 inches between each triangle.
The bias binding I used was 10mm by
4 metres.
It was a little fiddliy getting the triangles 'inside' the binding and pinning it along but not that bad and some of my stitching didn't quite 'catch' on the bottom side but I just flipped it over when I got to the end and resewed it.
And hey presto - pretty BUNTING!!
My neighbs opposite, Glynnis and Lindsay, have been away for a few weeks having a nice time up near Hanmer Springs then up to Wellington to see one of their daughters (her hubby was the editor on the "Hobbit"). While they were there though Glynnis fell and hurt her hip then when they got back last Saturday, Lindsay went over to Arrowtown to help their other daughter and fell down the bank at their house and broke his ankle!!! That is rotten luck for the two of them as they have not been in the best of health just lately so we are going to keep an eye out for them for a little while if they will let us. Poor things.
I'm sorry I am all over the place on this blog aren't I?
Derek has been doing some work in our ensuite today, just sanding back and doing some gloss on the window etc. We've chosen the tiles and flooring, just waiting on the plumber to tell us when the loo arrives so we can co-ordinate it all. This is the mosaic tile we chose to go with the bigger tiles and will be used as an accent.
Just hope it will look good when it is all finished.
So that's all for today, we are having burgers for dinner - Derek's choice - so had better get them started and some onions on, chips too.
I'll leave you with a sunrise taken from the car on the way to Queenstown on Wednesday.
Take care everyone TTFN, love and be kind to each other xxx
