It wasn't much good for the Car Racing either here in Cromwell, the V8's this time, but then they had been going since Thursday and just sounded like a load of loud bees for most of the day when the wind was in the wrong direction!
Saturday we were up early and headed out to Alexandra as it was such a lovely day. It is only half an hour down the lake and through the vineyards so a nice run and out through the other side of town, it is like 'Heathcliff' country, miles of nothing but sheep farms and very rugged. They did a lot of mining round here, as they did everywhere in this region, and made this dam up here which is now a lovely little sanctuary to walk round.
It is called Flat Top Hill.
Derek couldn't do it yesterday so when he has finished his prep for work, he is going to do the last bit down the left of the house and the side of the garage we can't see!
We spent yesterday reading and relaxing for a while and spoke to Donna, James and the boys too. They are gorgeous xx
Then later I got bored and made stuff. I did 2 pots of pickled cherries, two of apricot jam (I bought some more preserving jars in Mitre 10), 2 of peach and walnut conserve, a jar of onion marmalade and a rack of scones so as we had chilli at lunch time, we had a nice cream tea with brie and beetroot relish turkish rolls. I like tea times like that with the scones warm from the oven.
Lunchtime now so am going to cut some lavender to hang in the shed to dry - I made some lavender bags to put in the drawers and wardrobes as they are supposed to keep away moths and I just like the smell. It is also said to be an old ladies smell - along with honeysuckle - so guess what, I must be getting old! It's that old what shall we have for lunch time again?
It is not the destination that is important, it is the journey you take to get there that is. xxx
TTFN, love and take care of each other. Til next time. xxxxx
