Just great, wonderful in fact.
I have logs blazing away and the only way to put it out is to throw water on it! Smoke billowing through the house and the fire alarms are going nuts. Now lots of windows open, wafting fire alarms to stop the screeching (me, not screeching, wafting) and Derek wondering where to put the smouldering logs! Me again - tell Derek to get the lids of the toilet cisterns (that should have gone to the tip over a year ago) and we'll use them to put them in. So (me again) gets gloves on and proceeds to get the still smouldering logs out! More smoke, more bl..dy alarms!!!
And Derek, don't forget to throw a bucket of water on the 'still on fire' logs that are now in the middle of the dry garden at the side of the house before the plastic cistern tops melt in to the lovely stones on the dry garden!!!!
Men are wonderful creatures at times but at this time, just let me think about that.
On the plus side Derek can be pretty wonderful at times and has done a great job on his new USA project. It means he gets a week in Miami for his troubles and gets to meet and old friend and colleague who he has missed, also makes money to pay the bills which is an added bonus! Love him xx He is away a lot over the next two weeks so tomorrow we are heading out somewhere as it is going to be a nice sunny day but cold so time to wrap up warm and go for a walk. Can't believe I was at home at this time last year about to go to Ben and Jess's wedding. Happy 1st Anniversary for Saturday you two xx
A week today Derek had a big meeting with Kelly and Leon from Ingram in the Speights pub in Queenstown - nice place for a meeting - so I went with him to do some shopping, buy more material for my new quilt which is coming along nicely .......
I digress again - Queenstown! I also bought two scrapbook albums so all Thomas's pages are now in an album proper. All the grandchildren have one each from their young lives and one day I will hand them over to them so hope they get as much enjoyment out of them as I did making them.
but this lot were selling
toasted hazelnuts like
we sell chestnuts in the
winter at home and
just made me smile.
An old friend Tony used
to do this with
chestnuts outside his
offices in Broadstone
every year with
mulled wine as a
charity thing for the
school his wife Sue
and I used to work
in and raised lots of
money doing it too.
The roses and the primroses
are out and they really
shouldn't be flowering until
Spring.
The calendulas are flowering
their little orange socks off
and the cornflowers are
about six inches high,
they I am worried about.
So for now I must say bye-bye and get lunch ready. I have lots of little squares to cut out later to finish the final border on the quilt and that can then be put away until Spring.
TTFN - love and care for each more today than you did yesterday xx
