The harbour is the home port for a famous collection of old ships which are employed in film projects all over the world - they have brought work and life to the quays and harbour buildings and are a particular draw for visitors. In Cornish it is called Porth Meur which means great cove and it is a lovely little fishing village. It has survived as a working port and a small amount of china clay is still exported in an average of 30-40 ships a year, and this saves the place from becoming a cosy caricature of itself with plenty of 'heritage appeal' but no real life.
Then just because we could we went over to Mevagissey which is a particular favourite of mine. I last came here with Becky when she was a teenager so it is so nice to revisit it again. Julie and I haven't been here together since we were young girls and I don't think it has really changed much since then.
We think it is kind of special too.
As the weather was so good we decided to go in to Fowey for dinner, just fish and chips but what a nice place to eat them in. We we lucky to find a place to park on the street and walked down in to the Town through the really narrow lanes.
Bear with me, two days to go.
TTFN and thanks for looking.
