Their owners are glad to show off these lovely classic cars which were gleaming on this hot and sunny day. The night before some of them did a parade around the streets of Cromwell; people sit outside on chairs with their beers and watch them all go by. Sadly they missed out our street this year but you could still hear the almost deafening noise as they all travelled around their chosen route.
It was a very nice way to spend of couple of hours anyway and the atmosphere is always good at these things. The music was good too, lots of rocking stuff from the 70's which can't be bad, ZZ Top, Bad Company etc and lots of food stalls but we are still being good and went home to eat later.
We bought Ryvitas the other day ........
Nostalgia, there is nothing to beat it.
Being good isn't all that it is made up to be either!!! I was complaining to Deb the other afternoon that no matter how many miles we walk (and we did three 5 milers last week - it was so windy this day we almost got blown off our feet, we had 'waves' on the lake) ...........
........... plus being very careful with our food and then NOT loosing more than a pound isn't exactly inspiring!! It used to be much easier than this to loose a few pounds I know it did. And writing down everything you eat although a good thing just makes you realise that everything that you like to eat is really bad for you. And you just don't need this much food either though my tummy is not agreeing with that at the mo! |
So yesterday we went cherry picking!!! (72 calories a cup - see I'm obsessed!)
So last nights' dinner was apricot chicken done with an Indian twist, no cream or yoghurt added to this to keep the fat content down, just lots of veggies from the garden with it, just a little bit of rice and Derek made Paratha bread.
Here is the evidence and he enjoyed doing it too.
We were going to make bread but I'd made scones in the morning which were bad enough, date and cranberry ones hot out of the oven which were so good, so he made these instead to go with dinner and will make the bread later in the week.
Well he wanted a hobby so I thought it might as well be a productive one.
He's good at it too.
I did do some more patchwork as I 'bought' a new class from Crafty called Pre-Cut Piecing Made Simple so decided to have a go at the 'Hashtags' one.
So for the rest of the week! Tomorrow we are going on an Adventure - a drive up to Aoraki Mt Cook very early in the morning to go on a Glacier Encounter. I'm so looking forward to it. We have been to Tasmin Lake many times and looked at the glacier and icebergs in front of Mt Cook from the shore but this time we are going to get up close and personal with them! We may never get another chance to do this again so what the heck - the only trouble is the weather has changed today and it is dull and showery and it may be the same tomorrow which is such a shame but at least the glacier may be a little cleaner from the rain otherwise it will just look black.
So we have a 6.30am start and a nice early drive through the Lindis pass to get there as our boat goes at 11am. We get back in just before 2 which then gives us time to go to one of the other lakes and canals before heading home, we are not staying over this time so it will be a long day.
So, I may catch up with you later in the week too!
Take care everyone TTFN and be good to each other. xxx
Last week's weather!!!!
