OK well seeing as I did my blog half way through the week last week the only news I have to tell you is at the end of the week and weekend. It stopped raining at least which is the main thing and Derek fixed the leaky window on Saturday so hopefully we will get no more puddles on the windowsill for a while.
I picked him up from the airport on Friday afternoon after he had a bit of a run around. He was supposed to fly from Auckland to Qtown via Wellington but Welly was having thunderstorms so they diverted the plane to Christchurch instead and he had to run for both connections so it was a great surprise when his overnight bag turned up at Qtown airport! Good old Air NZ. I also lost the car park ticket somewhere in the airport and as they have people constantly cleaning up there, my ticket must have got trashed so I wandered over to the info desk. They asked me what time I got to the airport, which barrier I went through etc then clocked me coming in and gave me another ticket to come back out. Great result! It meant that as it was only 20 mins we didn't have to pay and if I hadn't asked could have ended up paying the $75 maximum! It's always worth asking, a lesson learned.
So Saturday we didn't do much. Derek was pretty tired after his short but hectic week away in Christchurch and Auckland, don't think Vodaphone are the easiest of people to work with, they are a little chaotic. So we walked in to town in the sunshine and watched a children's hockey tournament on the way in, always a clue to winter coming. I needed some more iron on interfacing so popped to the Craft Shop for my bits and a chat as always and Derek went to the info centre to get a booklet on Alexandra walks. We watched a film in the afternoon put the fire on and our feet up. I did make a beef curry for Sunday, a Thai chicken curry for dinner that night, a roasted pumpkin and a red pepper soup for our picnic the next day though. I like cooking on cold crisp days.
So Sunday was a little chilly to start but blue skies and sun. While we waited for the temperature to get above freezing!!!!! I made a lemon and lime drizzle madeira cake from a "Taste' magazine recipe which is very nice. We drove to Alex around 10.30 am, parked up in town and headed along the back road to the Shaky Bridge, hence the title of the blog. This is it! And it did shake when you walk over it.
Wishing you lots of love Mum for your operation on the 16th May, not a nice thing to have on your wedding anniversary. I am sure everything will be just fine, big hugs for you, love you very very much.
Also congratulations to Deb and Paul on their 10th wedding anniversary on the 15th, have fun in Niagra.
Oh I finished another of those crocheted blankets which I love doing, makes a change from quilting.
So I had better heat up some soup for lunch - I've been on the treadmill already and it is getting easier already so time to up my game. Lol.
TTFN - care for and look after each other, get out in the sunshine and good luck with all your gardens.
