Our 8th wedding anniversary was the 28th October so we went to one of the local wineries here to celebrate which was a really good thing to do.
We went to Northburn Station which is a picture perfect spot and it was a glorious day - (we have had some horrid frosts and snow since then but all back to normal again now, I think!) - just the perfect spot for some lunch and a glass of wine.
We came here nearly two years ago when I first came out and we thought it was a good find, just over the bridge here in Cromwell on the shores of Lake Dunstan so in a good spot, the wine is lovely and the food just as good.
Thyme and the South Island seem to sit very well with each other here and are synonymous with the beautiful bouncy lambs that are prolific here at the moment. I love to watch them chase each other around; they have no natural predators here so they look safe and secure in the huge herds.
On the way back we decided to go a different route and headed up the coast towards the Moaraki Boulders where we went with Julie and Mike many years ago and before the turning you come to a little spot called Doctors Point which we just had to explore.
What a lovely little bay, gorgeous white sand and hardly anyone about, as usual. I just had a need to see the sea so this was lovely and a nice stretch of coastline here.
The sea hasn't warmed up enough yet to have a paddle, after all it was only the equivalent to the UK's April but it did look very inviting and full of drift wood which we are getting used to here. People just pile it up into strange structures and children build dens. They also burn it when they had BBQs on the beach and the big pieces they just sit on so it comes in useful.
We also found a sign for you too Mum which I had to snap so on that note, I will say bye bye and thank for looking at my blog again, it is nice to have you along for the ride. xxx
