We visited clients out in the Speargrass area last night and they have about 6 acres with a lovely house and garden, great veggie patch and tunnels. They are growing the same things as I am but mostly in their tunnels as it is colder there but what a difference; their sweet peppers are huge and basil just self seeds everywhere so maybe I might persuade Derek to build me just one tunnel next year, just a little one. I think I had a bit of veggie envy! But they also grow lavender all around the house and have the most bumblebees in one area that I have ever seen and heard. There is a lovely hum around their property from them and they are great to watch just beavering away doing their own thing, lovely fluffy things that they are. Wish I had taken my camera as I am sure Hazel wouldn't have minded if I had taken a few photos.
I'll just show you a few more of my favourite flowers................
I'm glad I persevered with it - bought all the material and pattern in Auckland from my favourite patchwork shop "Cushla's Village Fabrics". It's a good job we don't live there as I would be in there all the time. She has the most gorgeous quilts hanging over the landing in the shop and for someone like me who loves material, it is a treasure trove and a kaleidoscope of colour. She does classes too which I would love to go to. There is nothing similar here, a few groups but they just get on and do their own thing and I would love to be taught how to do it properly. I have a go and when you see what they produce you would understand why my efforts pale! But still, I enjoy what I do and am learning by my mistakes, today being the norm!! |
TTFN everyone, wrap up warm (especially in Canada with those freezing -20 degree temps!!) keep safe til next time. xxx
