After an early breakfast we headed over to the Noosa National Park which is just down from the beach and has a coastal walk as well as lots of walks in to the bush and sand dunes, the latter much too energetic and so we did the former and took a nice walk along the coast.
That was so nice as we got the breeze most of the time and watched the surfers as there were several little coves along the paths were they were playing.
We did meet a very nice couple from Lancashire while we were stood there and chatted to them for ages.
In these wooded areas of which there are many, we saw lots and lots of Australian bush turkeys. They are not the prettiest things in the world - the parrots which we saw by the hundred never stayed in one place long enough for me to 'catch', got them on movie though - but at least they didn't dart around like the other loony part of the bird population here.
Wednesday we had a mad day traveling round again. This is my 'greed' thing; I know the chances of us coming back here are most probably nil, there are many other places to visit, so I needed to see everything. I think I mentioned yesterday we were going to Eumundi today to the Market but had to pop to the chemist to get Derek some reading glasses as his dropped out of his bag somewhere so we got some overthecounter ones. The lady serving in the chemist in Tewantin was very nice and helpful, ex Kiwi who has lived here since the 80's - not going back - and she suggested we go to the Hinterland and follow the 'tourist' road.
Am so glad we did as we had a great day.
Firstly Mapleton for a coffee.
Then we went to Montville which is a pretty little town geared for tourists to stop and browse.
The lady in there was just so nice so Derek sat on the 'husbands' seat outside with a pile of magazines while we picked material, talked about it and patterns and what other people were doing and what was coming in and classes and on and on and on!!!
She was so nice.
She also asked if I would like to come on a quilters retreat they are having in May/June, wouldn't that be nice.
They are very generous people with their knowledge and time and she gave me some of her own patterns and I bought some of her material.
Bliss!!
So if you are ever in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and on the Maleny - Montville Highway just pop in to Maleny Magic Patchwork and Quilts and spend an hour or two chatting to Barbara or Robyn.
Nice ladies.
Anyway Maleny was a lovely place, oldie worldie again but this time very vibrant. It has one of the highest concentrations of co-ops in Australia - businesses which focus on the interests of the community which is great. So if I lived there I could sell my veggies to the co-op and get money for it! Sounds like a good deal to me.
Lunch was great too.
We headed just outside of town to the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve to have a walk in a tropical reserve. They have a small form of wallaby here called a pandemelon which we were told we most probably wouldn't see and birds also we couldn't see but by gum could certainly hear.
It was like pandemonium in there with the Whip birds whipping and the Cat birds crying (just like babies) and all the other birds in between.
So that was Wednesday, much nicer to do this than go to a craft and food market.
Thursday we were supposed to be going to Fraser Island but had to change it to Friday so today was a surprise day. We went to the beach but had to wait for an hour in the morning as it was raining so hard for half an hour.
We went up on to the roof/BBQ area of the resort and took photos instead.
We walked down along the waterways at the back of the beach later for a while and watched the parrots and their antics in the trees. They seem to love hanging upside down to eat which is so funny to watch. Again I have them on movie.
TTFN - sending you all warm thoughts from this very hot 29 degree day (so good to speak to you Mum) x
