I had a great flight back and got my upgrades to Premium Economy so had plenty of leg room on the long flights, 34 hours altogether as I had some long lay overs but not too bad and watched lots of films. Julie and Mike met me at the airport which was wonderful, so good to see them. Of course people were arriving for the Olympics which begin on Friday so on my plane were the Tongan team, what nice people and in the baggage hall were the very tall Chinese basketball team, lots of film crews and photographers to meet them all which was all very exciting.
The journey home was better than expected and we went straight to Langside school where John Ashby, the headmaster there and old friend, was having his leaving do. I didn't stay long but managed to say HI to alot of old friends and colleagues which was so nice. I hope to get to catch up with them again before I go back. Mike dropped me home then I dashed over to say night night to Phoebe who didn't know I was home. To see Becky and Phoebe again was a pure joy and she read me a bed time story! Little love. I felt very woozy so only stayed half and hour then home. So nice to be back in the flat again, it looks just the same and I forgot how much I like it. Thanks Dan for looking after the place so well. Tuesday I just had to see Kathy who had a hospital appointment so I got there before she left to give her a hug then over to Mum's. So lovely to see her again and give her a hug that I have wanted for ages so Hello to everyone, got to see you all within 12 hours so not bad going and am glad to be home. xxxxx Phoebe came over then at 9am and we played with her archery set, it's great fun.
When I took her home she showed me the medal she got from ballet which she loves and is doing so well at, makes her Mum so proud. Her school report was glowing so Becky is very pleased with her. She is growing so fast and is much more grown up and has a lot more confidence.
I spent the evening with Kathy, so nice to catch up with her and we had a great chat.
Phoebe had had a bit of a scare in the sea the day before and got knocked off her feet a bit so wasn't too keen to go back in today. Think I am going to have to find a beach that has a more gentle slope as there is quite a drop off on our local beach.
She really wants to learn to swim so hope we get the chance to put in some practice before she has her lessons in September.
After the beach we took Julie home and we had a bit of a treat for Phoebe as we had a MacDonalds and sat in the car by the park and ate our burgers. Haven't had one of those for ages! I didn't get time to eat much the day before (good job as I had eaten so much on the plane so needed to give my tummy a rest!)
We walked in to town to have a look around, quite a few of the shops have changed in the last 6 months but I still love it.
Phoebe chose a new doll for her dolls house so was very pleased with her purchase, a fairy doll which is very sweet.
We took everyone home then came back to the flat for tea and Becky came straight from work to eat with us - she had picked Kathy up from work but she was busy tonight. Phoebe and I fell asleep on the couch, not much fun for Becky so went they went home, I washed the car and did some gardening changing the soil in some pots as I bought some soil in readiness for me buying some plants at the weekend to brighten the place up a little. It all looks very green and healthy anyway.
Well that is not bad for 4 days. Tomorrow we are going to Brownsea Island for the day as Becky has never been before and it is going to be another lovely day so should be a perfect place to go, beach and forest to cool down in. Julie is coming with us too so we will take a picnic then tomorrow evening, we are meeting friends for dinner which should be great.
Bye for now - missing Derek lots so big hugs for you xxxx
