Just spoken to Julie (who says that Spring has finally gotten round to turning up in the South of England) which was a lovely way to start my day and said to her that here the frost was on the ground and now it is sunny; the frost has gone now and I just might go swimming after all after I have been to the garden centre to pick up some fleece to wrap up the lemon and puhutakawa trees. Don't want to loose them especially as we have so many lemons this year. They don't know it is winter here and this is when they do most of their growing so they have to be babied along.
We finished a little early on Friday from work as we had to deliver a 27" cinema screen and an iPad mini out to customers so closed up at 4.15pm and caught the last of the days' sun. We had to go to Lee's house which is in Millbrook close to Arrowtown and she lives in a magnificent house overlooking Lake Hayes.
We were up here earlier on in the week to have dinner with Judy and Jeff clients of ours who are now friends and she was trying out her new pizza maker on us. What a nice meal that was and lovely company too. Thanks Judy. Hope you have a great time in South Africa for the next three weeks!
We drove back through Arrowtown and grabbed a bag of horse manure on the way as you do! It's only just over £1 for a big sack full which my roses will really appreciate and the veggie bed (I dug it in on Saturday afternoon) as putting it in there now will give it time to rot down over winter which should boost the yield in those veggie beds next year. Well that's the theory anyway. Must drive back that way later in the week and give the bag back, it is the neighbourly thing to do, and grab another one! And luckily it didn't make the car smell at all.
We took a little detour up on to the back Gibbston Road on the way home too as it is so pretty and quiet up there (lots of sections for sale among the wineries if we win the lottery!!!!!).
We stopped for a while basking in the sun and Derek 'played' skimming stones which he can't resist doing every time we go near any type of water which has flat stones readily available to chuck in!
There is always a good excuse to be outside 'cos Sunday IT RAINED ALL DAY!
We are not used to wet stuff falling from the sky! Only drizzly though but two days couldn't have been more different. It was dismal, get the picture. So, Derek had work to do for a presentation he has to give on Thursday to a bunch of teachers from the local area for an 'Apple' thing using iBooks and I did some sewing. Then we cuddled up on the couch in front of the fire after Sunday lunch and read, finishing off the lemon curd I made a few weeks ago with some homemade scones.
I felt a little sad all day as it was Becky's 30th birthday, Happy Birthday poppet, and I would have given anything to have been there to share it with you and the family but never mind, not much I can do about it and it was lovely to talk to you and Phoebe later on to wish you many happy returns and share your day just a little bit. Hope you all had a great time at the restaurant xx
We'd had had a busy week at work, lots of locals replacing their computers at this time of year which is good for us and Derek did quite a bit of tutoring which he loves so it was nice not to have anything much to do.
Right, now whether I go swimming or not, I still have to go out so better get my walking boots on. I need to finish off painting the walls in the corridor I started a few weeks ago too; it has had one coat just needs another although it doesn't look that bad. Derek has promised to do the ceiling while I am away, it will keep him busy and warm too!! Lol.
TTFN everyone, look after each other and keep each other safe. Do one kind thing for someone this week and they may pay it forward and so on so we can all make this world a better place - don't like seeing all the sadness and 'war' in the world on the news this week. Be good xx
