I spent some of this morning chatting to Becky on Skype whilst she did her ironing and talking to Phoebe who was up a little later because of half term. She is having a friend Freya over for the day tomorrow and they are going swimming so she was too excited to sleep. While she was staying at Mum's when Becky was poorly, Mum had been teaching her her prayers so when it was time to 'help' put her to bed, we had to say them first before I 'sang' her to sleep with 'go to sleep my baby'. It is so sweet, she doesn't understand the trespass bit though! Am with you there poppet xx My goodness but where has that child got her attitude from sometimes!! She is so very sweet but can be so stroppy, sorry Phoebe but you can and it does make me laugh but heaven help Becky when she gets into her teenage years!!!
They are moving soon so Phoebe told her GiGi (my Mum) that Mummy had thrown her stuff away when in fact, Becky asked her to choose some things to keep out and she has packed the rest in boxes. She thought they were going in the bin or to the tip!! Bless x
I talked to Julie too who is on half term too so she has been doing some gardening so it is nice to hear it is getting warmer in the Northern Hemisphere. Get some veggies amongst your plants!!!
Next time we will have to bring our bikes (must get a bike rack as it is a bit of a squeeze putting two bikes in the boot of the Rav) as there is a nice cycle trail here.
We stopped and got out of the car to watch two cormorants that were watching the fish. There are some big trout here in the lake but they didn't seem too fussed on catching them, maybe they were hot too and the trout knew!.
Our builder says we ought to go to the Huntin' Fishin' and Shootin' shop and get some rods. A lot of the locals who fish here throw the fish back, they just fish for the heck of it. Alan, the builder who is going to do the en suite, likes fishing and has just been over to Oz game fishing. We were just thinking of going up to Tekapo to the canals and hooking some salmon. Apparently they are running at the moment so he was off down the Clutha to chance his luck. Bet he doesn't throw them back even though they are cheap here. |
Poor bunnies but they are a big pest here in the vineyards and I suppose people have put too much of their money and lives into making a go of growing vines in this arid but good wine growing country. Some of the vineyards here are winning lots of prizes/medals for their wine which is a great thing for them, not for us as the prices go up!!
Talking of which, Rosemary here I come but I might not be that enthusiastic today in the heat.
Take care everyone, love and take care of each other. Spring will soon be with you xxx
