The sea here can be a bit iffy, the waves are big and strong and because a lot of the beaches have slopes going down to the sea the waves go back on themselves and create a washing machine effect. Any of you who have had the joy of being in waves like this know what I mean.
And the beaches in the north of Kauai are mostly like this.
This day was beach day and we decided to go right to the top at Ke'e beach but were thwarted this time with lack of parking. The beach is small and also the gateway to the walks along the Na'Pali coast which we wouldn't attempt as they are a bit of a challenge. People go out there with camping equipment too to camp on the deserted and hard to get to beaches on this part of the island but you have to be dedicated to do it and we are not that bothered!!
So Tunnels beach it was.
We spent a few hours here but as it was a bit dangerous to body board here we headed back to the tranquility of Hanalei beach and the more predictable surf.
One more look at the ocean!!!
