So ready, steady go .......................
The skill these men and women show is extraordinary and the speed they ride is frightening. Not all the horses behave themselves either or the cows and bulls for that matter but they all seem to have great fun doing it. Some of the bulls had attitude with a capital 'A'. One lady fell doing the barrel riding which was awful but she did walk out of the arena with help but then went off in the ambulance. That wasn't nice. | It was such good fun and I would definitely go again given the chance. Well done to all the cowboys and girls - I take my hat off to you - which I will definitely wear next time as we got sunburnt - factor 30 doesn't last for six hours without another application!! |
Saturday Derek finished the bathroom by putting the last round of batting on the bath and now we are done - except for the privacy film we are putting on the huge window that isn't going too well. The lady on the help line said it will be perfect in a few weeks, the privacy panel that is - we took the first lot off as we thought we had ruined it so had to start again!
But on Sunday we walked down to the Old Town to watch the Cherry Pit Spitting competition in the grounds of the McNulty House (we found out where that was in the end). We went round the market first and the cherry stalls had completely sold out of their cherries by 12 noon!
The competition was well on the way but we did watch the winner spit an amazing 11.5 metres!!! That's a long way (we had a go ourselves at home later and it is not an easy thing to do!!!)
I took some nice images from the Old Town, managed to get some more 'window' shots which I love.
We went home via Ripponvale and bought some already boxed cherries, raspberries and honey from one of the orchards as it was too hot to be outside for any longer.
We have very heavy cropping blackcurrants at the moment too so I decided to make some cordial with it for a change. This lot -
Earlier in the week I did the the BOM 3 from Jacquelyn Steves which I was really pleased with but did take me ages - all those triangles, not easy to press! But it looks pretty and the quilt should look nice in the end. I do like these colours.
TTFN, hope the New Year is going well for you all.
HAPPY NEW YEAR BY THE WAY XXX
Lots of love.
