It is a long time since I have been to a school assembly. Not since Kathy was at school I think. Which means Becky missed out big time as I, by then, was working in a school and we were not allowed. To be fair if the Head had let one of us go to our children's' school things then everyone would have been doing it.
So as Becky could not go to her daughters assembly I could. It was themed on Remembrance Day with the 'class' going on a trip to a War museum and it was so well written by the staff and performed by the pupils, lots of parents in the audience too.
I didn't even recognise Phoebe who was covered in camouflage paint and one of the statues who came to life to tell her story of the Argentine conflict. They also had fun singing two songs and doing a dance routine. The message was a clear one and they had also done a lot of work in the classroom on the subject and the Headmistress was very impressed.
I have forgotten how much I like being around young people with their enthusiasm and zest for life.
I was also very impressed with the school which is doing so well under this head with her young and dynamic staff. Keep it up guys, you are helping to make Phoebe into a lovely small human being so thank you.
It's been a funny old week really. Weather wise it is so warm you'd think it was Spring! The bulbs will be coming out at this rate.
Derek has been away in Scotland again for three days and came back in the early hours of this morning looking bushed. It is the flight, train then coach journey that does him in I think.
Also since last week our buyer pulled out of the sale - we'd all got the contracts to sign and everything. To say we are gutted is an understatement, I cried for a whole day. I just wish the English system was the same as it is in the rest of the world where a promise to buy a property means that's what you are going to do, your bid has been accepted and your word is your bond. Why not in England? I wish someone could tell me!! The brothers we are buying from have given us two weeks grace and although Derek is optimistic and I'm trying to be, who goes house hunting seven weeks before Christmas!!
We are not giving up yet so let's just hope our Estste Agents don't either - please!
Last weekend we had Phoebe and Dax here for a sleepover which was so nice, cheered me up no end. Becky took Kathy and Greg up to Terminal 5 for their holiday in Berlin (they are meeting some of his family there too so we're really looking forward to it).
We let Phoebe have a late night as we watched Strictly then 'Home Alone' as she hadn't seen it so had a bit of a lie in and got up at 8 on Sunday.
After a hearty breakfast we went off down the beach with a very excited Dax. He loves it down there.
It was very blowy, there was lots of seaweed on the sand also lots of cuttlefish bones and poor jellyfish. We have seen a lot of them washed up on the beach since we have been home, the water must be warmer.
We had a lovely time running and walking up and down the sand regardless of the weather and Phoebe, who had declared the week before that she didn't like going on the sand, had the most wonderful time.
I love impromptu days like this - we thought it was going to be too wet to go out though it did rain a little later.
When Becky got back we had lunch, so nice to have an excuse to do a big roast dinner so we had pork.
We have a viewing for this weekend so please everyone keep your fingers crossed for us. Our stuff is well on its way from NZ so we have to have somewhere to put it!!
TTFN you guys, take care X
Thanks for looking x
